AVFD New Building
In 1997 the Annandale Volunteer Fire Department began the largest renovation and construction project by any volunteer fire department in Fairfax County, Virginia at our station 8 public safety facility. Constuction started in August, 1997 with completion in May 1998. The ground breaking took place on Sunday, 29 June 1997 at 1pm. The cost for the entire project was 3 million dollars.
NO TAX DOLLARS WERE USED IN THIS CONSTRUCTION - JUST YOUR TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS! We are very proud that this construction project was accomplished with funds generated from the public we serve. We added one additional apparatus bay for the ladder truck and completely rearranged and upgrading living, dining, administrative, training, and physical fitness areas. All building utility systems were upgraded to meet current applicable building and life safety codes. The new facility is designed to be aesthetically pleasing to the surrounding existing community. We showed a complete set of building plans to the public at our annual Open House on Saturday, October 12, 1996.
If you wish to make a donation to our fund raising effort, please mail your check or money order to:
