Quotes from our Volunteer Members
I joined because I wanted to do something to help my commuinty, I know sappy and over used, but it's the truth. I see so many injustices going on and if could make one person smile, whether it was through the open house, the parade or even helping a patient be more comfortable that was enough for me. And of course you know I want to be a flight medic, and what better place to do it than Fairfax! Truly, it is an honor to be able to work/serve with you and all of our members as civil servants.

My parents have always taught me and my brothers that you only TRULY give when you give of yourself and that you cannot do a kindness too soon because you'll never know how soon it will be too late. I love people and to give my time to help them is very rewarding and makes me very happy.

The reason why I decided to volunteer at the fire station is to help lots of people in variety situations that gives me satisfaction. The light and sound of an ambulance is another reason.

Having only been with the Annadale Fire Department for a few months, I have already made good friends, learned new skills and continue to gain experience that will enable me to help people in my community. My fulfillment does not come in the form of a paycheck but the idea that someday I may save a life makes me happy.

I joined the Annandale Volunteer Fire Department because I believe in serving the community and giving of myself. The Fire Department and EMS saved my life several times and have always been there when my family needed help. As a Registered Nurse, I am in a unique position to help others technically, while blending this with the art of Nursing. Compassion, competency, community, commitment, and Christ are the reasons I serve with the AVFD.

I have lived in Annandale for almost my entire life, and I love this community. I am thankful for the opportunities and memories this area has provided me over the years, and I felt that it was only right to serve my community the best way I knew how. The great people with whom I have the privilage to volunteer here are like my second family. It doesn't get any better than that.
